My daughter-in-law just asked for some help for her grandfather. He’s finally making the major move from the single-family home he’s lived in for years to the condo he has recently purchased and he wants to update people about his new address. No problem… I have the perfect system to handle this job. And I got to thinking about the many other occasions when people typically send announcement cards. You know,
- Save the Date
- Birth Announcements
- Retirements
- Graduation
Naturally, I think there are many life transitions and celebrations that are just begging to be announced to the world. It even occurs to me that the element of surprise your recipient might feel about receiving a totally unexpected Announcement Card would make it even more fun and memorable. So in that spirit… here are some suggestions for announcement cards that might be a bit outside of the box… and fun none the less:
New Pet Announcements
Getting a new puppy or kitten is truly a dynamic change for a family and certainly worthy of an announcement card. Pets bring us lots of joy (along with unexpected frustration 
) so it only makes sense to share the joy with family and friends. And don’t just limit this to dogs and cats, heck… tell the world about your new fish, hamster, iguana or hermit crab… there’s really no limit!
Business Milestones
If you’re not willing to ‘crow’ a bit… why should anyone else? If that’s too much, consider elevating your brand, increasing credibility and building customer relationships and loyalty by informing people about major milestones and changes that your business has accomplished. These could be anything from announcing new promotions, sharing number of customers served, new or extended services being offer to just about anything else that positions you (and your partners and customers) as the best of the best in the industry.
Weight Loss
Obesity has become an huge issue, at least here in the United States. Making the decision to take off some weight and then sticking to the program and actually succeeding, absolutely deserves an announcement card! And if you’ve taken off a significant amount of weight, or dropped in clothing size, it’s a BIG DEAL. There’s nothing wrong with sharing your joy — not to mention the inspiration you may be providing for one or more of your recipients. Best of all would be receiving inquiries about how you did it so you can share your secret and help others lose weight too!
Oh… I have a few more ideas, like sending out Mortgage Payoff Announcement Cards and even Divorce Announcement Cards, either of which could be in bad taste… or great taste, depending on individual circumstances. The point is, you can get incredibly creative with announcement cards and have lots of fun with it too!
